Worth the drive

What is nearby

Two castles, a rainforest and a fish farm, all within a morning of the gate.

A rainforest with a canopy walkway strung between the trees, high enough to put you level with the birds. Butterflies, wildlife, and a conservation project underneath it all.

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, and a museum now. Its part in the trans-Atlantic slave trade is the reason to go: a visit is humbling rather than pleasant, and it stays with people.

Built by the Portuguese in the fifteenth century and, like Cape Coast, central to the slave trade. A moving place, and a short way further along the coast.

Ghana’s largest inland fish farm. Aquaculture up close, and a good deal more interesting than it sounds.

No drive times here on purpose. How long Kakum takes depends on the day and the road, ask receptionist when you book.

We take you

A guided walk to Munyi Lagoon

A lagoon very few people have seen, reached on untamed trails and manageable for most levels of fitness. We arrange the guide.

Come down for a couple of nights

Two castles, a rainforest and a lagoon — and the beach to come back to.
